How it works

Inspiration for inclusion

Directory

Experts at Hand co-develop a directory of evidence based strategies and interventions (starting from LA's existing graduated approach docs), adding the National Inclusion Standards once published.

Directory

SENCOs and teachers access resources for whole school inclusive teaching and the Development Areas to plan inclusive teaching and Targeted support. The strategies can be written into the Individual Support Plan.

Action Plans

School action plans feed into fresh resources, training, and guidance in schools from Experts at Hand to support upcoming needs. This could include training at SEND Group level

Audit

SENCO and SLT complete a SEND and Inclusion review across the whole school to support CPD and strategic planning. This can be shared with SEND Group and Experts at Hand.

What SENCos are saying...

And it's all in one place doing that signposting to lots of free resources.

I think it helps with communication to staff. This is so clear.

It's like a really useful tool, particularly for teachers who aren't SEND specialists

And I suppose it's a CPD tool in itself, isn't it?

So actually having that one place to look for things will be really helpful.

Provision grids are good, but then they're static, aren't they?

Why it works

Sustainable inclusion

We know that the future is unpredictable. But even before the pandemic we could see our youngsters losing a sense of belonging at school.

The SEND reforms are all about sustainable inclusion. Universal provision, Targeted support, Experts at Hand, Specialist Bases, and settings working together locally in Groups.

Belong will help council specialist inclusion teams keep on top of all these changes in a calm, sustainable way.

  • Future proof your Universal provision with an easy to update directory.
  • Understand upcoming needs through SEND reviews and action plans, supporting strategy and planning.
  • Create consistency in a shared language from curriculum planning, ADPR, ISPs, EHCPs, pupil premium, governance and more...

Look inside Belong

Belong to the future

From crisis to calm

Teachers will get training and support to included SEND learners more effectively in their classrooms.

Targeted support will be available more quickly for learners.

SENCOs will get help from Experts at Hand

Belong shifts that support earlier in the process, allowing teachers to self-serve the support they need to plan day to day.

Belong helps SENCOs review the current situation in school, develop their Inclusion Strategy, and gives them material for in-school CPD.

Belong gives back time to Experts at Hand to focus on learners with higher support needs.

Why the name Belong ?

The 2026 White Paper "Every child achieving and thriving" uses the words "achieve" 112 times, "thrive" 48 times, and "belong" 40 times.

But even before it was published, we wanted a name that would reflect mainstream inclusion.

To be included, learners need to feel that they belong.

And teachers need the understanding, skills, and belief that pupils enrolled at school really do belong.

The directory of evidence based interventions, co-developed by the SEND partnership. and curated by Experts at Hand, gives teachers a place to plan for belonging.
